Crochet blanket Tea

For this blanket, you can use any type of yarn and make it in any size you need by attaching more or fewer elements.

This blanket is made in weight 4, worsted type yarn (Alize Lanagold Classic). Hook: 5mm. Final size: 170×139 cm/ 67×55 inches. (White 4 skeins, green 4 skeins, chocolate 5 skeins, stone 7 skeins)

For my blanket, I made 20 octagons and 12 squares.

Joining

To join all elements you will be working around octagons and attaching as you go squares and octagons repeating the same repeat.

Join with a standing sc in any 1st sc of 2sc of the corner (J1.1). *Ch1, sc in next 17 sts (J1.2) *. Repeat ** 8 times, omit last sc, join to standing sc with a sl-st, fasten off, and secure ends. If you are working along the side where you need to attach another element the repeat is the same, but after ch1 (J1.4) you need to remove your hook from the loop and insert it from front to back in ch1 space of the element you are attaching, and into the dropped loop, and pull through (J1.5), sc in next 17 sts of the octagonal you are working around, but after each sc (J1.6) remove hook from the loop, insert it from front to back in corresponding st of the element you are attaching and dropped loop (J1.7) and pull through. (J1.8) (J1.9)

Continue joining elements. Note, the repeat starts with ch1, and ends with 17th sc, so if you are attaching an element, no matter square or another octagonal, you will start attaching sides with ch1, and end with 17th sc.

BORDER

Since you can make your blanket in any size by adding more or fewer elements the border pattern repeat is separated into two parts – Corner repeat and side repeat. Corner repeat starts with ch1 space and ends with last sc – marked with green markers, side repeat starts with ch 1 space and ends with last sc – marked with lilac markers. (B1.1)
