After Gemini, which gave us the lightness of dialogue and the joy of meeting others, comes Cancer. If Gemini is air, movement, and contact — Cancer is water, depth, and silence.
Let’s go back to our little story about the garden.
In Aries, the seed sprouted. The plant came into the light and put out its first flowers. In Taurus, those flowers became fruit. We harvested a rich crop. In Gemini, the plant met others — it turned out it wasn’t alone. There was a whole garden, a forest, a field around it.
Now imagine: what happens next? The plant keeps growing up, toward the sun. But at the same time — and this is the main thing — it grows down. Deeper. Its roots go into the earth, grow stronger, find nourishment, create stability.
Cancer is the time to go deep. Into your inner world. To where no one sees us, where we can be honest with ourselves. Where real treasures are born: intuition, memory, peace, connection to what matters, the inner happiness that doesn’t depend on what’s happening outside.
There’s a treasure hidden in this sign — easy to miss. It doesn’t announce itself. It waits for us to stop and listen to ourselves. This is the Treasures of the Inner World.

Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac. It’s the energy of the inner world, emotions, intuition, the subconscious.
Think of someone who feels a lot but doesn’t always speak. Someone who notices what others miss: the mood in the room, the unspoken pain, the barely perceptible shift in a voice. They have a rich inner life — as much happens inside as outside, sometimes more.
This sign is connected to home. But not just home as a place where we live. Home as an inner state: “I am safe,” “I am home,” “I can be vulnerable and not get hurt.”
Cancer is our ability to care for ourselves, to feel our true desires, to hear the quiet voice of intuition. It’s the memory of the heart, the connection to those who came before us, and to what we hold inside.
Key words: inner world, home, intuition, emotions, subconscious, care, roots, inner happiness.
Cancer is about roots
Aries was the seed that sprouted. Taurus was the fruit, the fullness. Gemini was the meeting with others, the dialogue. Cancer is the roots.
Roots are invisible. They’re underground. But they are what nourish the plant, give it stability, allow it to weather the storm. Without roots, there is no life.
Our roots are our inner foundation. They are what we received from family, from ancestry, from childhood. They are our own deep experience — impossible to put fully into words. They are where we can draw strength when the outside world asks too much.
Roots don’t rush. They grow slowly, in the dark, by feel. They don’t prove their worth — it’s obvious to anyone who knows how a plant works.
The inner world of Cancer is like that: it’s not on display. But it holds everything else up.
The shadow side: fear of losing yourself

Cancer energy has another side too. We might meet it while crocheting the mandala or just living our lives.
Fear of coming out. Sometimes the inner world becomes so cozy that we don’t want to leave. But life happens outside too.
Emotional ups and downs. One moment calm, the next a storm. Feelings wash over us, and it’s hard to tell where “I” end and the emotion — that comes and goes — begins.
The shell that became a prison. Protection is necessary, but sometimes it turns into a wall. We close up so tightly that we stop letting in not only pain, but also joy, love, and help.
Getting stuck in old hurts. Cancer remembers everything. This can be a gift — the ability to hold what matters. But it can also be a trap: endlessly replaying old wounds, which keeps us from moving forward.
Drowning in others’ emotions. Deep sensitivity is a gift, but without boundaries it becomes a curse. We start feeling what others feel as if it’s our own, and forget where they end and we begin.
With the Cancer mandala, we work with all of this: learning to create a safe space inside without closing off from the world. To feel without drowning. To remember without getting stuck. To be at home with ourselves — and still not be afraid to step out into the light.
What we experience in the Cancer mandala

Our Cancer mandala is like a journey into depth. Unlike the airy, light Gemini mandala, here everything is different: water, waves, flowing lines, shelters.
Look at the pattern — there are shells and waves. Something like coral and sea foam. At the same time, something like a crystal or a snowflake. Hard and soft, protection and transparency. Like the inner world itself: it can be both tender and very strong.
The mandala is built in layers. First a circle — wholeness, the beginning. Then an eight-pointed star — eight rays, eight directions, a reminder that even within deep waters there is structure. Then a circle again — a return to the center, to yourself.
Like all the mandalas in this series, Cancer has the option to transform from a circle into a square. This is important: even the deepest inner world doesn’t have to stay closed. It can take shape, find stability, become ready to engage with the world.
The birth of roots. The center of the mandala is a point of rest. A place where we simply exist. Without words, without dialogue, without needing to prove anything. The first rows create a soft, round foundation — like a cradle, like the very first “home.”
Creating protection. The mandala begins to grow layers. Shells appear — natural protection that doesn’t push away but shelters. This is a shell, but not to close off from the world — to create a safe space inside. Where you can be vulnerable and not afraid.
Going deep. The pattern becomes more complex. Waves, curves, weavings. This is our subconscious — not everything is clear, not everything is linear. The mandala reminds us: the inner world doesn’t have to be logical. It can flow, change shape, return to the same place again and again. Like tides.
Silence and nourishment. The most important stage — when the mandala stops “doing” and starts “being.” There’s no active pattern here, just quiet repetition, soft filling of space. Like breathing. Like a heartbeat. This is when inner happiness is born not from achievements, but from a simple feeling: I am here, I am home, and that is enough.
Coming back to the light. The mandala doesn’t close completely. Even within the deepest protection, there is an exit — gentle, natural. The circle can become a square — taking shape without losing its essence. Cancer teaches us not only to go inward, but also to return. With renewed strength, with clear feelings, with an inner home that is always with us — wherever we go.
How to work with the mandala. Meditation tips.
We’ll start crocheting the Cancer mandala when the Sun moves into this sign. That gives us a whole month to slowly go into our inner world. How to make this process especially deep?
Create a safe space. Before you begin, take care of yourself. Light a candle. Make tea. Wrap yourself in a blanket. Say to yourself (out loud or silently): “Right now I am safe. This is my time. No one will interrupt me.” Cancer teaches us to create home — start with a small ritual around your crochet.
Listen to your body. Cancer crochet is not about speed or perfect stitches. It’s about sensation. Do you feel tension in your shoulders? Do you want to slow down? Or maybe your hands want to move faster? Don’t control the process with your mind — listen to your body. It’s wiser.
Work with emotions. Feelings may arise while you crochet — sadness, joy, longing, peace. Don’t push them away. Don’t analyze. Just notice: “Oh, there it is. Hello.” Let the emotion sit beside you while your hands work. It will come and go. The mandala will stay.
Inner dialogue without words. Gemini taught us to talk. Cancer teaches us to be quiet. You don’t need to put anything into words. Just be with yourself. If you want — close your eyes for a few stitches. Feel the rhythm of crochet like a pulse. That is meditation.
What rises from the deep? Crochet is an anchor for the mind. When your hands are busy, the subconscious starts to speak. Write down dreams, fragments of memories, sudden ideas that come while you crochet. Don’t judge — just collect. These are your inner treasures.
A little secret
Cancer lives in every single one of us. Even if you’re the most active Aries or the most rational Capricorn, inside you there is this deep, sensitive, caring part. The one that wants to hide from the world sometimes, to be quiet, to listen to itself.
Don’t be afraid of this part. Don’t mistake it for weakness. The inner world is not a refuge for those who can’t handle reality. It’s a source of strength. A place where we restore ourselves. Where true inner happiness is born — quiet, steady, not dependent on what others say or think.
Allowing yourself to go into the depths — that is the path to the treasure.
Each stage of the Cancer mandala journey has its own color shades. Just as the inner world shifts through many hues — from transparent depths to warm light — our palette will have voices that help express this state.
