Crochet Hexagon Pattern with Snowflake

Hi There, This time something different — hexagon. Hexagon is another great shape to create a crochet blanket. I think this pattern can be used to create a winter-themed blanket because there is a snowflake in a middle. I will try to create an entire blanket in Christmas colors. This hexagon is easy to crochet.

Yarn: weight 4, worsted Hook: 5 mm Size: (from top point to top point) 8 inches, 20 cm, (from side to side), 6.7 inches, 17 cm

Crochet Terms: US
Abbreviations: st – stitch, sl-st – slip stitch, ch – chain, sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, tr – treble crochet, fp – front post, bp – back post,  popcorn – 5dc in same st, remove hook from loop and insert from front to back of 1st dc and into dropped loop and pull through. To close popcorn ch 1. Ch 1 counts as a part of popcorn st. cluster of 2tr – yarn over twice, insert hook into indicated stitch or space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops twice. Repeat once more in same stitch or space. 3 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. dc2tog – Yarn over, insert hook into first indicated st, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, 2 loops on hook, repeat in 2nd indicated st, 3 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

ROUND 1. Magic ring (R1.1) , ch2 (R1.2)*dc, ch3, dc (R1.3)*, repeat ** 6 times. Join to 1st dc with a sl-st. (R1.4)

ROUND 2. Join with a standing bpsc around any dc after ch3 space (R2.1), *ch6bpsc around next st, ch1 skip ch3 space, bpsc around next st (R2.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last bpsc. Join to standing bpsc with a sl-st, fasten off, and secure ends. (R2.3)

ROUND 3. Join with a standing popcorn in any ch3 space of round 1 working in front of round 2 (R3.1), *ch3sc in ch6 of round 2, ch3popcorn in ch3 space of round 1 working in front of round 2 (R3.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last popcorn. Join to standing popcorn with a sl-st, fasten off, and secure ends. (R3.3)

ROUND 4. Join with a standing fpsc around any popcorn (R4.1), * in ch6 space of round 2 before sc of round 3 made in same ch6 space (dc, hdc, sc), fpsc around sc of round 3 made in same ch6 space, in same ch6 space afres sc of round 3 (sc, hdc, dc), fpsc around popcorn of round 3 (R4.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last fpsc. Join to standing fpsc with a sl-st. (R4.3)

ROUND 5. ch1, sc in same st (R5.1), * skip next 3 sts in next st ((cluster of 2tr, ch2) 4 times, cluster of 2tr), skip next 3 sts, sc in next st (R5.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last sc. Join to 1st sc with a sl-st, fasten off, and secure ends. (R5.3)

ROUND 6. Join with a standing fpsc around any 3rd cluster of 2tr (R6.1), *(2sc in ch2 space, fpsc around next st) 2 times, skip next st, (fpsc around next st, 2sc in ch2 space) 2 times, fpsc around next st (R6.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last fpsc. Join to standing fpsc with a sl-st. (R6.3)

ROUND 7. ch1, (hdc, ch1, hdc) in same st (R7.1), *hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next st, dc2tog over next 2 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, in next st (hdc, ch1, hdc) (R7.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last hdc, ch1, hdc. Join to 1st hdc with a sl-st. (R7.3)

ROUND 8. ch1, sc in same st (R8.1), *in ch1 space (sc, ch1, sc), sc in next 13 sts (R8.2)*, repeat ** 6 times. Omit last sc. Join to 1st sc with a sl-st, fasten off, and secure ends. (R8.3)
