Crochet Terms: US
Abbreviations: st – stitch, sl-st – slip stitch, ch – chain, sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, tr – treble crochet, fp – front post, bp – back post, tbl – third back loop
ROUND 1. (COLOR A)
cluster of 2dc – Yarn over, insert hook into indicated stitch or space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat once more in same stitch or space. 3 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
cluster of 3dc – Yarn over, insert hook into indicated stitch or space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat twice more in the same stitch or space. 4 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.
Slip knot (R1.1), ch4 (R1.2), insert hook into 1st chain (R1.3), yarn over and pull through to form a ring (R1.4), ch2 (R1.5), cluster of 2dc into ring (ch2 + cluster of 2dc counts as cluster of 3dc)(R1.6), *ch1, cluster of 3dc into ring (R1.7)*, repeat ** 8 times, omit last cluster of 3dc. Join to 1st cluster of 2dc with a sl-st, fasten off and secure ends. (R1.8)
Stitch count: 8 cluster of 3dc, 8 ch1 spaces
ROUND 2. (COLOR C)
Join with a standing fpdc around any cluster of 3dc (R2.1), *in ch1 space (dc, ch1, dc), fpdc around next st (cluster of 3dc)(R2.2)*, repeat ** 8 times, omit last fpdc. Join to standing fpdc with a sl-st, fasten off and secure ends. (R2.3)
Stitch count: 8 fpdc, 8 ch1 spaces, 16 dc
ROUND 3. (COLOR B)
Popcorn – 5dc in same st, remove hook from loop and insert from front to back of 1st dc and into a dropped loop and pull through. To close popcorn ch1. Ch1 counts as a part of popcorn st.
Join with a standing bpsc around any fpdc, *ch3, skip next st (dc), popcorn in ch1 space, ch3, skip next st (dc), bpsc around next st (fpdc)(R3.1)*, repeat ** 8 times, omit last bpsc. Join to standing bpsc with a sl-st, fasten off and secure ends. (R3.2)
Stitch count: 8 popcorn, 8 bpsc, 16 ch3 spaces
ROUND 4. (COLOR D)
clusters of 2tr – yarn over twice, insert hook into indicated stitch or space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops twice. Repeat once more in the same stitch or space. 3 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
Join with a standing sc in any popcorn (in a middle of popcorn, not in a top loop of popcorn)(R4.1), *ch3, cluster of 2tr in corresponding fpdc of round 2, ch3, skip (ch3, bpsc, ch3) of round 3, sc in next popcorn (in a middle of popcorn, not in a top loop of popcorn)(R4.2)*, repeat ** 8 times, omit last sc. Join to standing sc with a sl-st. (R4.3)

ROUND 5. (COLOR D)
cluster of 3tr – Yarn over twice, insert hook into indicated stitch or space, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops twice. Repeat two more in same stitch or space. 4 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull though all 4 loops
ch1 (does not count as stitch), fpsc around same st (sc), *skip ch3 space, cluster of 3tr around 1st tr of cluster of 2tr (to get the desired result you need to start a cluster of 3tr by inserting a hook between two tr of a cluster of 2tr)(R5.1), 11tr in same cluster of 2tr (in top loop of the cluster)(R5.2), cluster of 3tr around 2nd tr of cluster of 2tr (to get the desired result you need to start a cluster of 3tr by inserting a hook between two tr of a cluster of 2tr)(R5.3), skip ch3 space, fpsc around next st (sc)(R5.4)*, repeat ** 8 times, omit last fpsc. Join to 1st fpsc with a sl-st, fasten off and secure ends. (R5.5)
